4.1

Vehicle InspectionBefore you ever pull out of the lot

Before driving, review the previous driver's inspection report. Only sign it if defects were certified as repaired — or certified as not needing repair. That signature is your certification.

4.2

Loading & Trip StartBaggage, hazmat, and the standee line

No baggage in doorways or aisles — it has to let the driver move freely, let riders exit by any door or window in an emergency, and not injure anyone if it shifts.

Hazardous Materials Labels are 4-inch diamonds across 9 hazard classes. Allowed: small-arms ammo (ORM-D), emergency hospital supplies, drugs. Never allowed: Division 2.3 poison gas, liquid Class 6 poison, tear gas/irritants, more than 100 lbs of solid Class 6 poison, explosives in the rider space (except small arms ammo), labeled radioactive material in the rider space, or more than 500 lbs total hazmat / 100 lbs per class.
4.3

On the RoadStops, curves, railroads & drawbridges

Railroad Crossings Stop 15–50 feet before the tracks. Look and listen both ways; open the forward door if it helps. After a train passes, check for a second train on other tracks. Never shift gears while crossing (manual transmission). No stop required — but slow and check — at streetcar crossings, police/flagman-controlled crossings, a green signal, or crossings marked "exempt"/"abandoned."
Drawbridges Stop at least 50 feet before the draw if there's no signal or attendant, and confirm it's fully closed before crossing. No stop required if the light is green or an attendant/officer is controlling traffic.

Brake-Door InterlocksUrban transit coaches

The interlock applies the brakes and holds the throttle at idle when the rear door is open, and releases when the door closes.

Remember This is not a substitute for the parking brake.
